How often should I get massage?
How often should I get a massage? | Best type of massage
What's the best type of massage for me? The surface of the foot is broad, but I can give you over 100 lb of pressure with 1 foot versus about 25 lb with a thumb and 47 lb with an elbow. With that being said, barefoot massage is not meant to be light. I'd recommend someone else for that. | Does deep tissue massage hurt?
Does massage therapy hurt? In a nutshell, massage therapy should not hurt. I don't believe in the "no pain, no gain" mantra. If you want that, I'm not the deep tissue therapist for you. Yes, there are times where the therapist might find tight spots or achy muscles. When I give you barefoot massage, that should feel more like "it hurts so good". You kinda like it, kinda not. But actual PAIN-no. |
What do I wear for massage?
Some massage therapists have preferences, so ask your massage therapist! If I'm doing a stretching session, I ask my clients to come in comfortable and stretchy clothes. If you want to get a barefoot massage session, I prefer for my clients to completely undress. I use professional draping. If "Aunt Flo" is visiting, of course, wear your old grundy panties if that makes you happy. Incontinent? Yes, please wear what makes you feel safe. | Is it okay to talk during a massage?
Of course you can talk when getting a massage! It's your time. Some clients talk the entire duration of the session. Others talk in the beggining and, once relaxed, let their brain and mouth let go. It's perfectly fine to not talk at all. Some people only chat before they get on the table. They might fall asleep or just enter a deep state of relaxation during a massage. So can you talk during a massage? If you want to talk during a massage (or not) -it's up to you! (And it's ok to change from session to session, depending on your mood.) | What if I fall asleep during a massage?
What you I fall asleep, snore, or drool during a massage? Have I stepped on drool? You bet. Have clients waken themselves up by snoring? On a regular basis. Clients even toot. It's all ok. In fact, clients who wear Oura rings report "restorative rest" after they've received deep tissue barefoot massage. |
